decent pliers and blades...
I bought this tool as a replacement for my trusty Leatherman Wave, which was tragically lost to TSA this summer. I'm an EMT, and decided on the Flik for the rapid-deployment pliers (for opening oxygen cylinders, etc) and the outside opening blades, again for quick access. In that respect, its a pretty good tool. The opening and closing locks take a little getting used to, which won't be a problem for you once you play with it for awhile, but if you hand it to a buddy he'll probably have issues opening and closing it correctly. The sliding/locking mechanism is a little shakey, but it gets the job done; we'll see if it stands up. The black coating is actually very nice, and feels like bare metal in your hand, unlike the grainy feeling of the Leatherman tools and Kershaw knives. The blades are again pretty ok, the straight blade is ground on both sides rather than just one which gives you a good edge and point. The serrated blade came unsharpened and was dull as all get out, but a couple...
The Flik Action
I was kind of skeptical to buy this tool because of its size but now that I own one it is not that small but just the right size and weight for what we all use it for. Love the flick action and the locking mechanism of the handles are kind of cool, the black coating has not stained my hands a bit, is on the tool for good and a pretty good finish too. The outboard tools was the #1 most important reason I bought this tool even though they are not that easy to access because of their sizes but with a little practice is not that bad, the knife, saw, serrated blade and scissor are good. Gerber should work a little on the locks for the tools and make them a little rounded edges or something they are kind of hard on your fingers when pull to access the tools also the blades are a little hard to open one handed, they too need some work maybe a little hump on the blades to make the slot bigger for the thumb to fit a little better and then it will make it easier to open one handed. I`m pretty...
The do it all machine
I bought this multi-tool as a replacement for my gerber suspension which i had for two years it didnt break it was and i looked for 3 months for a replacement and found the crux and the method. I read reviews and the whole nine yards then a friend of mine showed me the diesel and pro scout i decided to uprgade to that upper class one of the things i really loved about my suspension was the outboard tools and the only one the i liked that had that was the flick so i picked one up on ebay. the day i got it I took it 2 work with me, I am a satellite installer. first thing i liked about the tool was that if you push foraward on the lock release with all the tools down the middle tools open up for easy access. i also picked up the tool kit and added a 35pc bosch belt bit set. I took it and my drill up on a roof only to discover that the tool kit adapter was magnetic it was a big plus for me i used the tool and 7/16 bit driver and was pleasanly surprised. This tool has replaced about 15lbs...
