Lyman Universal Case Trimmer with Carbide Cutter and 9 Pilot Multi-Pack

Couldn't Ask For More.
I purchased this trimmer to manually trim my cases to length. Lyman products have always been well made in the past, and this trimmer is no exception. The instructions that come with it are clear, and easy to follow. The universal chuckhead seems to work great once I got the hang of how it worked. I tried the regular cutter that comes mounted from the factory before changing to the carbide one packaged separately. I noticed an immediate improvement in the cut being performed, and this confirmed the wisdom of purchasing the carbide cutter version.

I don't understand a reviewer listing the fact that this manual trimmer is manual, as a "con". It's a MANUAL trimmer! Also, like many other things in reloading, a certain amount of skill, experience, and trial and error applies. Example: nobody sets their bullet seat depth without a bit of trial and error. They do the job every shell is the right length'
I have had one for years. My older children lost all of the carbide centers. It was cheaper to get the whole set thain the centers. I have had no problems with it, it sure saves buckled sholders on 30_30 when you crimp all of the necks are the same length.I forget how longe ago it was for the first one. They are well worth the money.
Good Case Trimmer - Recommended
This Lyman Universal Trimmer is easy to use and works well. The trimmer was included in the Lyman T-Mag Expert Kit Deluxe with 1000Xp Scale we recently bought when we decided to start reloading .223 cartridges. Here are my observations:

Pros -
+ Easy to Use; Once setup, just insert the shell and rotate until the case is the right length (but see "Cons", below)
+ Versatile; Chuckhead automatically adjusts to accommodate the shell and comes with 9 pilot heads (which store on the trimmer)
+ Well Made; this is a sturdy, mostly metal unit
+ Works Well; trims cases quickly and easily

Cons -
- Exact sizing is difficult using the coarse and fine dial adjustments, but is achievable with practice

Misc -
* While heavy enough to be used without being screwed down to a table, there are mounting holes at the four corners

Overall, this is a very functional...
