Performs fine at 100 yards as a scout scope on my rifle...
Range Test: I purchased the NCStar 2.5x30 illuminated pistol scope, to use as an inexpensive "entry-level" scout scope, mounted forward on the barrel section of my Browning BLR .308 Takedown rifle, which lets me preserve the "takedown" option. I am a novice, and this is my first rifle. My goal is to have sufficient accuracy inside 150 yards, for deer hunting. I have now "range-tested" that setup, and zeroed the scope in at 100 yards, within the confines of a short session on a 100-yard range. I was able to achieve 3" groups, which I thought was pretty good for a novice, shooting at low magnification, with cheap FMJ target rounds. That would be adequate for dropping deer at 100 yards or less. I have not tried it at longer distances yet. I also haven't tried it in lower-light situations, so cannot comment on whether the illumination is helpful, or what the optics look like at dusk.
good scope
Having this scope on my .22 LR pistol has caused my friends to envy me. It looks really good on the gun and has made shooting at the range more exciting. For the price of around 38 dollars you aren't going to beable to beat this product. The scope is clear and crisp and as soon the scope was on, it was already aligned perfectly. My first shot with the scope on, hit dead middle of my target. The illumination is a nice feature as it lights up the crosshairs; allowing you to better see the target. It has a power that goes up to seven of brightness, but really level one is all you need. The eye relief is not a problem, I am 6'2 with long arms and it is fine. I saw this same exact scope at a gun show in VA for 60 something dollars, I went online and saw the item on amazon for a good amount cheaper and purchased it. It's a good buy!
mosin lover
the illumination helps a great deal on my Mosin, because of the long eye relief.... only complaint is the reach to adjust the cross hairs but I knew that when I bought the rifle.......for whatever it is worth I have had nothing but good results with NcStar products , so far
