Best measure for the LnL press
I have two of these powder measures for my LnL press so I can keep one setup for rifle loads and the other setup for pistol.
Here are the things I like about the LnL powder measure:
1) This is a very accurate measure. Once I get it setup with a new powder, it drops charge after charge exactly the same.
2) The metering insert swaps out of the rotor easily and new ones aren't very expensive. This makes it possible to keep a couple of extra on hand taylored for specific loads. On a related note, I also tried the micrometer inserts and I found that the normal metering inserts are cheaper and they actually work better too - a great combination in my opinion:).
3) I like that they are now coming with the baffle, which helps keep the loads very consistent.
4) This measure is made for the LnL press. I tried other brands (like Redding) but never could get them to work right in this press.
My only complaint is that it seems to take a bit to get the...
LNL Powder Measure
This is one of the most versatile measures available, period. The removable metering insert is easy to utilize, and extremely accurate. Spares are available to allow for a set and forget mode for different calibers and powders, just pop in another insert. The baffle ensures a consistant charge every time. As good as the "green" measure for a lot less money.
Hornady Powder Measure
This unit is meant to replace a competing cheaper, plastic powder measure. The plastic measure allows powder to leak out the side of the rotating drum. This Hornady unit works much better, doesn't leak, and produces repeatable loads. It's definitely worth the extra money compared to the plastic version. A friend just got an RCBS unit and he likes it a lot, but he paid more for the green machine.
