Superb scope, superb mount, excellent value and accurate.
This system from Nikon, both scope and mount are beautifully designed for the AR-platform rifles, both carbine and rifle length. Mounting is of course a "piece of cake", optics superb and adjustment logical, precise and repeatable. I am only recently returning to shooting the AR, having been an owner of a very early Colt AR-15 in the mid-sixties; had to sell it at one time and always wanted a replacement.
I have this scope mounted on a flat-top Smith & Wesson M&P-15 and am very pleased with both the installation and the performance. Sighting in was not a chore with a bore-mounted laser and the results have been everything I've hoped for.
Recommended to all.
Solid
Another fine Nikon product. I have the NIKON M-223 BDC 600 8489 3-12x42SF Riflescope (Black) on my hunting rifle and I love it. They are so bright and sharp, for the money, it really is the best buy. Same solid construction as the Monarch series(I think that's why it's "M"-223 and the "P"-223 is the same quality build as the Prostaff series. Mounted it on my M&P15 atop the Nikon M-223 XR (743) AR Mount w/ 20 MOA Slope (Black), holds it nice and low. At 2x it's great for running around, or any off-hand shooting; zoom in to 8x and pop out a bipod and it's a great sniper.
*also you can download Nikon's "Spot-on" app to your phone or tablet: Spot On allows you to discover all of the exact aiming points on your scope's reticle at various yardages for your specific ammunition and load.
Another winner from Nikon
I just my hands on one and it has my heavy barrl. .223 shooting just as tight at 100 yards as it did before. The range I am shooting at only goes out to 100 yards. Anyway, I shot targets using the 2nd and third circles and compared them to the elevation expected from the Nikon Spot On Ballistic Match Technology program and it all matched up for me. I used factory Winchester Supreme ammo too. I have also have 3 of the M-223 3-12x42SF with the Rapid action Turrets. These are a couple of my favorite optics to use. I have hit targets out ot 600 yards with the help of these scopes.
