Outstanding Knife!
I reviewed this knife as though I were still a soldier and this was the knife I would carry on a tour of duty. I wish I had this knife back then. The weight is acceptable for something you add to the load you must carry along with water, ammo, rations, and weapons. It is very comfortable to hold and use and I really like the fact that the steel projects out of the back so the knife can be used as a hammer. The material and shape of the handle should help prevent your hand slipping when you are dirty and sweaty. I can easily see that you can use the knife by holding it in place (to cut off a limb or split a branch) and pounding on the back of the blade (which is the way soldiers use their knives). I think that, after a few months in the field, it wouldn't be nearly as pretty but it would be every bit as functional. For a duty knife I would look into a sturdier sheath but otherwise; Perfect!
The Real Deal
This is a REAL survival knife!
I did not buy mine from Amazon as the price was higher than other places (that happens sometimes), but I see now it has come down to a point I may have purchased it at.
I believe it is the Fallkniven "F1" that is the official survival knife for pilots within the Swedish Air Force since 1995 and not the A1. I bring this up as the A1 is bigger than the F1 and many survivalist opt for the smaller size knives. The A1 is on the bigger end of the survival knife scale in general and it is important for you to consider the pros and cons of this.
You can research all the specs on this knife on Google, so I will leave that to you and I think you will find Fallkniven didn't invent the survival knife, but they sure have done a solid job producing one.
Go to [...] or bring up the A1 on YouTube and watch the 7 destruction test videos on this knife, you WILL be impressed...as was the guy doing the test!

Best Knife You'll Ever Own
I bought this knife over the summer. There are other sites that have the knife for much cheaper. I personally also bought it with the black finish which helps prevent rust. You won't have to worry about rust anyways because of the kind of metals used in the blade (as long as you don't keep it wet for extended periods of time).
I could go on and on raving about this knife. I've cut many branches over 3 and 4 inches thick with this in half. It also splits logs easily. The largest log that I have ever split was about 8 inches thick (though you won't be cutting logs in the wild this thick unless you have a saw with you). It can break up concrete and cut through steel 1/8th thick. When it comes to a REAL survival knife, they're not going to be cheap, but they'll never let you down.
It's also the official survival knife for pilots within the Swedish Air Force since 1995.
