Love it for what it is; turn blind eye to some deficiencies
Among a bunch of knives I've collected, most just stay in boxes in various bins and drawers. A very few are always out on display, and this is one of them. It just looks awesome.
What makes it awesome is what you can see for yourself just looking at the product images, so I won't get into any of that. Instead I'll mention some downsides that may not be obvious, and might be important to someone who might buy this product for reasons other than its looks.
- This is not a small knife (I suppose that would depend on who you ask), and I've been told people find it intimidating even seeing it on display.
- For me the following would be a fatal flaw if I were to actually want to carry and use this knife: there's no safe way to close it with one hand. Back locks are generally problematic in this regard, but because of a combinaion of factors, this one is especially bad; 1. the lock release is at the very back; 2. the spring is super strong; 3, the handle is...
LIKE NO OTHER
THE PICTURE DOES NOT DO THIS KNIFE JUSTICE. THE QUALITY AND LOOKS OF THE KNIFE ARE FAR SUPERIOR TO MUST KNIVES I'VE SEEN AND PURCHASED THAT COST 4 TO 5 TIME MORE. EVERYTHING ON THIS KNIFE IS IN A CLASS OF IT'S OWN, FROM THE CRAFTSMENSHIP ON THE HANDLE TO THE SHAPE AND EDGE ON THE BLADE. THE ACTION ON THE OPENING OF THE BLADE, AT FIRST FEELS LIKE THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM, BUT AFTER OPENING IT A FEW TIMES, YOU'LL GET THE HANG OF IT.
THE BEST PART OF THIS KNIFE IS THE CLOSING OF THE BLADE. I'LL LET YOU FIGURE IT OUT. AFTER YOU DO, HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THEY'LL GET A KICK OUT OF IT... IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GREAT KNIFE THAT WILL LAST YOU A LIFETIME AND YOU'LL BE ABLE TO PASS IT ON TO YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, THEN I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE THIS COLUMBIA RIVER KNIFE AND TOOL 5250 NIRK TIGHE RAZOR EDGE FOLDING KNIFE, FOR YOU AND AS A GIFT FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I DID, AND THEY LOVE IT.
Nice knife
It looks and feels nice. I like the size, it's a little bigger than the standard knife. The reason, I didn't rate it higher is because the main screw that the blade pivots on, came loose. This was within a day or two of getting it. There isn't anyway to really tighten it other than hand tight. I've had many cheap knives and never had a problem with the main blade in danger of falling out because the screw came lose holding it in. I'll have to use some lock tight to hold it. I don't see the problem as being worth returning, but when you pay this much for a knife, you don't expect screws to fall out.
